Essay on My Village in English for Students & Childrens

India is a country of villages. If villages are called the soul of India, it will not be an exaggeration because even today about 65% of the population of India lives in villages. Villages play a very important role in the development of India because every type of crop is produced in the villages and from there it is supplied to the cities. Therefore, somewhere or the other, the cities are dependent on the villages. If there are no villages in India, then there can be a shortage of food and drink. The people of the village are very cheerful and sociable.

The people of the village go to sleep early and wake up early in the morning and work much harder than the urban people. Most of the people of the villages do agriculture work and also earn their livelihood from it. Animal husbandry is done in every house here. Some people of the village depend on poultry farming, beekeeping, cottage industry etc. apart from animal husbandry to earn their livelihood. Most of the people are farmers. Some people are involved in fishing, weaving, handicrafts, shopkeeping etc. Apart from this, some people also do labour work.

Away from the crowded life of cities, life in villages in India is very simple and straightforward. Most of the farmers live in the villages of India because even today agriculture is the main source of livelihood in villages in India, that is why India is also called an agricultural country. More than half of the population of India still lives in villages, that is why India is also called a country of villages.

The people of the village live a very simple life away from modern facilities. The people living in the village mainly depend on agriculture for their livelihood and also do poultry farming, animal husbandry, beekeeping, fish farming etc. Apart from this, there is also a village market which is held twice a week. People do not have to go far to buy and sell their products.

The people of the village eat simple food, they consume milk, curd and fresh fruits and vegetables in their food, due to which the people of the village remain healthy and fall ill less. The people of the village live below the poverty line. There are not many facilities here as compared to the cities. The environment here is cool and pollution free. The air here is fresh because there are farms and trees all around.

Most of the people in the village are illiterate but as India is developing, schools are opening in the villages and the level of education is also rising here but the villages have not developed at the pace they should have. Still it can be said that despite less amenities, rural life is more pleasant than urban life.
